Kino Night “Written To Not Remain” - Tewa Barnosa

During Hoogtij, Tewa Barnosa presents her video work and new publication Written To Not Remain at Page Not Found. The project is based on a visual investigation into wall writings found across post-revolution Libya. These collective statements act as fleeting testimonies of social commentary, historical dialogue, war correspondences, or silent forms of protest.

In the video, Barnosa combines archival footage with digital acts performed within a virtual reality simulation, translating and transmitting a photo archive she has built since 2019. Drawing from over 200 images and a text recitation, the work serves as a testimony to the western-led wars in Libya following the Arab Spring of 2011.

Tewa Barnosa is an interdisciplinary artist and cultural producer based between Tripoli and Amsterdam. Her practice spans visual art, time-based media, performance, and curatorial collaboration, grounded in critical curiosity and research-based reinterpretation. She explores historical events, language, and anti-colonial forms of communication, weaving together fragments from war archives, Bedouin and Amazigh oral literature, fiction, and mythology to reflect on contemporary warfare, cultural resistance, and socio-ecological unrest.
