Van Kampen Wieling (1998) describes himself as ‘gentle maker’ with a special fascination for nature. Sculptures made of branches, which seem to have been picked up from the forest, are in reality carefully prepared. In his work a powerful balance is created between paper, wood en glass.
In her recent work Penninnga (1958) has increasingly focused on a compact formal language in which the figuation is only present in concealment. The abstractions, which roam freely over the surface, tell their own mysterious story, which cannot be captured in words; they claim their visible right to exist.
