Headspace - Finissage van Kay Klop
For the series KOPSTUKKEN, Kay Klop (1978) created small works on paper and panel. They are not portraits in the classical sense, but constructions built from paper. His heads do not look at you; they confront. They refer to the engineered human, who increasingly hides behind filters and fillers—a strange kind of selfie. The head serves as a starting point, but is immediately undermined. Lines break, layers overlap and mask each other to create a powerful image.
