Kexin Hao is The Hague’s City Illustrator for 2025. Her imaginative city drawings invite viewers to reflect on the relationship between urban residents (both humans and animals), food culture, the sea, nature, and history. They present city life from the perspective of animals.

At the House of the Book (Rijksmuseum Meermanno), Kexin Hao presents an overview of her work as City Illustrator. Original drawings are shown alongside visual material from her sources of inspiration in The Hague Municipal Archives and from workshops. To conclude her term, Kexin has brought her city drawings together in a special risograph-printed publication. Designed as a calendar, it allows every resident of The Hague to hang a city drawing by Kexin on their wall.
During Hoogtij, we celebrate the launch of the publication and the opening of the exhibition with a performance by Kexin Hao and an interview.
