Paradise

The second-year photography students of the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK) invite you into a landscape of experiments, questions and ideas. Over the course of two intensive weeks, they have constructed their own exhibition spaces to share their most recent investigations with an audience and learn what it takes to make an exhibition together.

Working with a clear restriction – to build and curate everything within this limited time – the students treat the exhibition itself as a medium. Walls, objects, images, sounds, and texts become tools for testing how stories can be told and interpreted. Instead of aiming for a polished result, the process of making, negotiating and assembling is a core value of this experience.

This playful show investigates what happens when an exhibition behaves more like a sketch than a conclusion. How do images shift when they are placed in relation to each other, or when a space is claimed, shared or transformed? Moving through the exhibition, you are invited to navigate these emerging constellations, to witness different ways of thinking through photography, and to imagine what might come next.
